Spanning two weeks and taking place from 15–24 April, the programme includes guest talks, fundraising activities and student-led initiatives designed to encourage the college community to think about environmental challenges and solutions.
This year’s Eco Week will raise funds for Just One Tree, a non-profit organisation working to tackle climate change and biodiversity loss through global reforestation projects. Students voted to support a project in Kenya, contributing to the country’s “20 Million Trees for Kenya” initiative, which aims to restore forests and improve water security for local communities. Every £1 donated plants a tree, helping to rebuild ecosystems, support biodiversity and absorb carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.
A real highlight of Eco Week, and a staple in the College calendar, is the HR4.5 sponsored fun run and walk (shown left), where students and staff will complete a 4.5km route around the local area. This year's programme will also feature talks from guest speakers including Pippa Heylings MP, local business Greenweigh, and journalist Alan Rusbridger, former editor of The Guardian.
The fortnightly event will conclude with an Eco-Fair in the Atrium on Friday 24 April, featuring a clothes swap, book swap and opportunities to learn more about sustainable living.
The event is organised by the college’s Sustainability Reps, who work with staff to plan activities that inspire positive environmental action across the college community.
Eco Week 2026 is generously supported by sponsors DB Broadcast, a Cambridgeshire-based broadcast technology company, and The Welding Institute (TWI), a global research and technology organisation headquartered near Cambridge that works with industry to develop engineering and sustainable technologies.
